Additional changes:

* Use .data() instead of .attr() when setting data on elements
* Call checkSiteLink() from init() and not constructor
* Remove duplicate br elements from HTML literals. CSS should be used
  for styling.
* Remove apparent lingering test code from init()
* Add GitLab pipeline
* Add README, remove docs/ directory as the README can be used instead
* Add LICENSE
