Turn benchmark tests back on and use new Avro version

Benchmark tests have been mysteriously failing but since the Avro update, they seem to work again 🤞. 'Cleaning up' the logs/output was considered but decided to keep them since they reveal not unhelpful data and also reassure us benchmark testing is running and not stuck or failing.
